  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

I actually Loved doing this. I usually grab a large dinner plate to put my food on. I started using my smaller plates which I think helped me get smaller portions

My vision of a sustainable community involves a mixture of solar, wind and geothermal energy sources. To accomplish this we need continued innovation and entrepreneurship to make sustainable energy sources viable, cheap, and easy to use.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

We waste a lot of food in our house because we have a toddler who doesn't eat everything on his place and it looks inedible after he is done with it. Nice to be able to compost it!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Eliminate Toxic Plastics
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I typically use single use coffee cups at work but I didn't feel that bad about it because they are compostable cups. BUT, they are still single use and I have my own mugs, so I plan on using those when possible instead.
