Team Comsewogue Feed

BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

It's not difficult to recycle but it's disappointing how little Brookhaven Town now accepts. Only #1 & #2 plastics are accepted (used to be #1-#7). Consequently, we have much more refuse to be collected. Glass must be carted to the library or senior center. Eating meatless meals can be problematic eating out but a lot more restaurants are now serving some sort of veggie burger and most will make an effort to accommodate a meatless diner.

The Challenge offered information on new ways to help our environment.  Also, it was a good experience to learn from the experiences of colleagues and coworkers.

I can definitely use fewer straws!  Need to change to paper straws!

I convinced someone to start recycling bottles and cans at their workplace who was not doing so and they now feel good about their start up recycling center and are thinking about more initiatives. I feel good that I was able to get someone else to join the process by sharing my experience in conversation.

I was motivated to read many articles on recycling and energy managment by companies that I wouldn’t have normally read.  This increased my knowledge and I am now signed up for more information on these topics.

I enjoyed being part of this challenge and I will go on to do my own private challenges and continue to learn more about the environment.

Instead of taking plastic vegetable bags I could bring my own cloth reusable ones.

In order to waste less I plan to purchase 15 to 20% less food per week. This is approximately how much food the my family currently wastes each week.

I'm a little sad that it's the last day of the ECOCHALLENGE!

I agree! Hopefully everyone who participated will continue making the changes that they started during the challenge!

This has been a great experience!
I hope to participate in more challenges through my workplace and/or on my own.
