The WRT is all about creating a great place to live. We do lots of different things to reach that goal including education and events and there are lots of different issues that we think are important: water, waste, food resilience, biodiversity, energy and transport. The concept that underpins our work is the importance of a healthy and thriving environment. Such an environment allows a community to flourish, and within that community a strong economy can exist.

April 24 at 11:35 AMI learnt about the direct link between (lack of) transportation and poverty, particularly from the Philadelphia story about the effectiveness of carpooling schemes in giving people access to suburban jobs that are better paid than inner city ones, and thus increasing their opportunities.

April 24 at 5:41 AMKatherine Wilkinson's TED talk really interesting. UNFPA data shows over 200 million women still lack safe, reliable contraception, therefore reducing their ability to care for families and selves, and contribute to communities. Need more support!

Food production responsible for 25% of global GHG emissions, food waste for 8%, approx 1/3 of all food produced...horrors. In developed countries this is mainly after it reaches consumer, as opposed to before hand in developing...

April 24 at 5:25 AMFascinating - wave generators already working in Portugal, and tidal ones in France - need tidal range of 5m however. Lots of R&D underway and trials in USA Pacific NW areas.

April 24 at 2:13 AMThat battery aircraft may become available for relatively short distances. For longer distances (long haul flights) the best option is to avoid travel, and network with others using zoom or skype.

April 24 at 2:10 AMBuilding resilient communities inspires me the most. We need to insure that most of our food is grown locally, so that we are not vulnerable to supply disruptions, and that we can ensure the food is grown organically.

Some more female empowerment, some extra thinking on solar batteries, and lots on food waste - on this I can still do much better and...

April 22 at 5:32 PMUsing fossil fuels to generate electricity just adds to GHGas emissions and therefore the Climate Crisis - for the sake of endangered creatures, including humans, we all need to support clean alternatives and power down ie reduce our usage so we can use surplus for charging evs, running clean heating options eg heat pumps
