    I am really happy with the bamboo alternative readily available in my community. However, they have to be sought after at more high-end stores and I wish they were a little more prevalent and desired.

    I am most motivated by the amount of water and land use that is wasted for uneaten food. It is just so sad that people do not realize the consequences of food waste.

    It is very important to me that I support local farmers. Without them, most people would have to get their food shipped from various places, resulting in increased carbon emissions. In addition, locally-sourced food is typically more fresh and healthy!

    Eating smaller portions not only benefits the environment, but can also improve your health! This can prevent overeating.

    Knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates motivates me to save as much food as I can. I wish I had known sooner that most food that gets thrown away is actually still good to eat.

    I had not heard of the term silvopasture before now. I think the biggest advantage of silvopasture is the effective use of land, providing both forests and grazing land.

    All of this waste make me angry, especially the hours of labor put into producing the food. Thinking about the hard work people put into growing my food motivates me to be wise about expiration dates and always compost!

    In addition to recycling, I can refuse plastic straws at restaurants. I can also reuse my water bottle, coffee mug, and buy a reusable metal straw. Additionally, I can repurpose glass jars into pots and reuse my school supplies from previous years.

    Happy Earth Day! Sustainability Club did a trash dump at Woods Charter School today during high school lunch! We dumped the Recycling, COmpost, and Trash bins onto different tarps and sorted them in front of peers to demonstrate the items not being properly sorted. It was fun!     I believe it's the perspective. In the United States and  Mexico it's thought that meat fills the plate. That it's what gives you the strength to build muscle.
